Memon Optics
Orders, prescriptions and stock for optical shops
An optical shop's day is orders for glasses, lenses, frames and repairs, each with a prescription, an advance and a balance to collect on pickup. This app runs all of it from one screen, and it's white-label: the shop name, contact details and accent colour change per shop without touching the code.
Background
The problem
Most small optical shops keep orders in a register. Finding a returning customer's last prescription means flipping pages, tracking which glasses are ready is guesswork, and nobody knows exactly how much customers still owe.
- Prescriptions buried in old registers
- Every order type needs different details
- Prices get negotiated, and advances and balances are tracked by hand
- No clear view of what's being made, what's ready and what's due today
- Profit and money owed are hard to see
Solution
What we built
A browser app built around the counter. Type a mobile number and existing customers appear instantly with their last prescription, ready to edit for this order, and their last three orders. Orders move from Pending to In Making to Ready to Delivered, and the balance is collected on delivery.
- Glasses, lens, frame, repair and other orders, each showing only the fields it needs
- Catalogue prices, discounts, a negotiated final price, advance and balance
- Drafts that never count as sales or use stock
- A dashboard with today's sales, money collected, and orders due today
- Reports on sales, profit and margin, compared with the previous period
- A list of money owed by customers, longest waiting first
- Frame stock that goes down on an order and back up if it's cancelled
- Printable receipts, and white-label branding per shop

Details
Details that matter
- Old orders keep the prices, costs and prescriptions they were made with, even after the catalogue changes.
- Profit is only shown where costs are known, and the report says how many orders were left out.
- This MVP stores data in the browser on one computer. The data layer is kept separate, so it can move to a hosted database without changing the screens.
